This long break from blogging was mainly due to our vacation. Tyler and I have been gone since July 15. I will tell you all about that when we get home. Yes, we are still in Utah, but not by choice. You see, I thought we were flying home July 31. When we arrived at the airport this afternoon, and no one could find our reservation, they finally looked up my name.
"Ma'am, your flight was yesterday."
How did we miss that? I thought it was the 31st, would have bet some money on it, but apparently I was wrong. The soonest they could get us home was tomorrow morning. And we had to pay to change our tickets!! So we are spending one more night at grandma's.
The moral of the story: double check the time AND date of all air trips.

Home Alone
We had a great fourth of July weekend. Dan's sister Jenny and family came to town, our BBQ was delicious, and as always, Tyler loves his cousins. Well, it came time for them to leave and Jenny announced that to her kids. Poor Tyler started to cry. (Well a pretty good fake cry anyway.)
"Oh Tyler, do you want to come home with us," she asked?
He stopped crying and big smile came over his face.
She came in to tell me all about the fake tears and we had a little laugh over him. Well, not five minutes later, he came downstairs with his suitcase, packed with pj's, clothes for the next day, and even a toothbrush.
"I'm ready to go," he said.
I pulled him aside and told him that Aunt Jenny was just kidding. And besides, I would miss him too much.
"That's okay mom, you can come visit me."
And by now the cousins were in on it. Allie, who is 10, took him into the next room and helped him write us a note.
I mean, how could we resist that? So Tyler went to Austin last night. He's coming back today with grandma and grandpa who are heading our way to help Dan's brother move in. And I have had the morning to myself. I exercised, finished my book, ate breakfast, and now I really need to get a move on my housecleaning. That brother that is moving to town? They are staying here and will be here this afternoon.

T-ball
Wow, our first foray into organized sports. We finally got to play a game tonight after being rained out for both games last week. We had a great time, but I think we are crazy for doing summer sports; I think we will try to stick with fall or spring next time. We lucked out with a great coach and a good bunch of boys for Tyler's team. He kept asking if they won, and I tried to explain to him that in T-ball it's just about having fun. But let's just say if they were keeping score, oh yeah, we would have won.
And just because I've had so many people ask me, yes we really are doing okay. I have had a hard time, but each day is getting easier. What we are going through is like any other grief. And I keep repeating to myself to trust Heavenly Father. If there is a spirit out there that is supposed to be in our family, he will make it to us. I have been very grateful for my testimony, and for support from our families, friends, and ward family too. So, a big thanks to everyone for your love and support; it means the world to us.

:(
I didn't know that you could feel so sad for something that I guess was never really ours. Our birthmom changed her mind and has decided to keep the baby. Even though we knew this might happen, it doesn't make it easier. As far as I know, he is still not born, but we found out yesterday, and she decided it was better to make that decision now rather than after everyone saw him. I guess, but it still hurts.

Still waiting
Well, our due date has now come and gone. We really thought she would go early, but apparently we were wrong. It is quite nerve wracking to wait. We don't have regular contact with the birth mom so we have no way of knowing how she is or any clues to if she is getting close. So we are just waiting. We are hoping that we will not have to wait too much longer--we are ready for the new one to come to our family. We will definitely post here when we find out. Hopefully this week!

A love letter

Fore!
Dan has decided to pursue a new hobby--golf. He has always golfed a bit, but when we lived in Little Rock his good buddy Joshua got him even more into it. Last year for his birthday he bought himself some clubs, and this year I got him some golf lessons. Now, since I do not accompany him on his golf outings, I do not know how much he has actually improved, or even how much he enjoys playing. I do hear the comments when he returns home, which range from: "I hit the most beautiful drive off the tee, close to 300 yards" to "I suck at golf and everything I have learned means nothing."
Well, the golf bug has trickled down the line of men in our house, and Tyler decided that he too wanted to try golfing. Now, you can imagine the skills of a four-year-old, but Dan loved the idea of a golfing buddy, so I present to you: Tyler the golfer.

I cannot believe how adorable he is with his little bag on his back, the teeny glove, and hey, that's not too bad of a swing for someone of his age and skill level.
