Random pictures

I have tons of random pictures of the twins from the last couple months.  So here they are all together in one big post.

First up, this is what happens when you are getting ready for church, your oldest takes your camera, and snaps pictures of his brothers jumping off mom's bed.

Next, just a super cute one of Brady holding Jackson:

And this is some cheap labor.  Actually, Brady, and especially Carter, are good helpers, and I figure if they want to help, I need to let them.  When else are they going to want to do chores?

Showing off some birthday presents.

The twins love chips and salsa, but Carter takes eating to salsa to a whole new level--like using a spoon to get his salsa.

Quite often, one or more of the twins makes his way to our room in the early morning.  This morning they both did and pretty much kicked Dan and I out of bed.

Enjoying ice cream cones.

"Helping" Uncle Matt put together Carter's new bike.

See?  We have been busy and having fun all summer long.  Love these boys!

The last time

With babies, we always mark their firsts--smile, rolling over, sitting up, eating solids, sleeping through the night.  I think just as significant, are the lasts.  However, we rarely know it's the last time they will be up for a 2 am feeding, the last time they let you snuggle them to sleep, or the last time they take a bottle.

Well, I knew this last.  It was our last bath in the sink.  As Jackson kicked and splashed to the point of soaking me, I knew it was the last sink bath, and we would be moving to the tub.  And since I knew it was the last time, I was able to take some pictures.

Do you see all that splashing?

And just to compare, the first bath at home in the sink:

3rd Grade

Our first week of school has been a success.  While our summer was wonderful, it was great to get back to a schedule.  Let's hope for a great school year!

Thanksgiving Point

We also made it to Thanksgiving Point, both the dinosaur museum and the children's garden.  My mom has a grandparent's pass, and we try to go often with her to get her money's worth.

First, the children's garden with lots splashing and playing in the water.   We went with my sister, and so of course, everyone had a blast with their cousins.

And a few from the dinosaur museum via iphone.

This is the Place

After losing my point and shoot for about 5 days, I finally found it and was able to download pictures.  Which means that I can finally get back to posting more about our summer outings.

This trip was to This is the Place state park.  We have been several times, and each time it is so fun.  It's a recreation of pioneer life--homes, stores, school, meeting halls, the blacksmith, the tinsman, and mroe.  There is a farm area with both plants and animals.  There is an Indian village and a place to pan for gold.  Kids can make pioneer crafts, ride a train or pony, and play pioneer games.  It was super hot this day, but we still had a great time.

First up, the school.  Tyler demonstrated what happened if you forgot your homework, while the twins practiced at the desk writing on their slates.

At the Indian village.

Riding the train.  This is me and Jackson and my niece Lizzy.  She is amazing!  She came and stayed with us for 10 days for the sole purpose of helping with the kids.  She was a hard worker, and the twins fell in love with her.

Some water games to cool down.

And finally, Jackson in a coonskin cap in the gift shop.  Isn't he cute!

Up the canyon

Seeing as how we live just a few minutes away from American Fork canyon, I don't know why we don't go up there more often.  It's so easy to pack a quick picnic and head up.

We have been a few times, and we did go to celebrate Pioneer Day, albeit a few days later to accommodate everyone's schedules.

First up, a cute baby picture:

After dinner, we headed down to the river.  Aunt Rebecca helping Brady:

I can remember from when I was a little girl, coming to this very picnic area, walking over the same bridges, and throwing rocks into the river, just like my kids.

This time around, we had one big surprise: snakes.  We saw two rattle snakes--one on our hike and one right in the picnic area.  Scary, but kind of cool at the same time.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Since our summer vacation is almost over, I decided I better play some catch up and post some of our summer activities.  Let's see how much I can do in the next few days.

So one of the perks of being Tyler's cub scout den leader was that I got to go to Day camp with our boys.  It was great.  Just one day long, we rotated to six stations where the counselors did all the presenting, and we just did some corralling.  The boys got to use slingshots and BB guns; they did archery, panned for gold, made mini-handcarts and pulled life sized ones.  They also got to try out stilts, make rope, and spend money at the trading post.  What else could an 8 year old boy ask for?
