It must be Thanksgiving

I really do love this time of year. I love taking the time to count my blessings (which I know I should do better at all year). I love spending time with our families. I love tradition. Not to mention our beautiful weather here.

All month long, we have been preparing for the big day this week. Here is our photographic proof.

First, we had Tyler's Thanksgiving feast at school.

What a fun day to go see him in class as they did their program. It was even fun to eat with him in the cafeteria. I love seeing him in his element.

Also, this year we made Thanks and Giving trees.

I got this idea off a blog at the first of the month. Tyler helped me trace some tree shapes onto the posterboard. Then I cut out lots of leaves with my Cricut. Finally, every night (well almost every night) we write down something we are thankful for, and something we did for someone else that day. You can see that next year we are going to put a little more emphasis on the giving part. When we missed a day, it was easy to think of something else to be thankful for, but harder to go back and remember our good deeds. Some of my favorite things that Tyler added to our thanks tree: TV and spongebob. Yeah, having twins sometimes means Tyler watches a little bit of television.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A Belated Happy Anniversary

It's been a great 10 years sweetie!

About 8 months ago, we decided we wanted to do something nice for our ten year anniversary. I was working an convincing Dan we should spend a long weekend in New York, because I really wanted to see Wicked again. Of course, we did nothing of the sort. We went to Zio's for dinner.

I am perfectly okay without the big trip, because I got two kids instead.

However, I did get a surprise. Dan does this to me all the time. We say we aren't exchanging gifts. Or for Christmas, let's just do stockings. Keep it under $100. And so on and so on. You would think after 10 years i would learn that Dan never sticks to those agreements.

I was under the impression that we were not making a big deal out of our anniversary. So when I walk in the door after running around all afternoon to doctor's offices and home health care companies, I find this:

10 beautiful roses and jewelry that represents our three children. I am one lucky girl.

PS Thanks for your prayers for sweet Rachel. They were never able to find a reason for the seizures, but she is back to her spunky self.

A Request

This is my family, taken last year at this time. Now see that sweet baby girl in the cream sweater sitting on her daddy's lap? That is my sweet niece Rachel. Yesterday she had 2 seizures. All day yesterday and today the doctors have been trying to figure out why. They have ruled out some things, but are still not sure what caused them. If you could send a few prayers and positive thoughts to her and her parents, they would sure appreciate it. Thanks.

More beautiful fall

We are still loving our autumn. All last week was absolutely gorgeous weather. We headed over to our favorite park, ran into some friends, and Tyler as usual made some new friends. We could do without the mosquitoes though--my poor babies came home with several bites on their faces.

Here's how the babies spent their time at the park.

aww, I just love them.

It's finally fall

There are so many reasons why I love this time of year, but since living in Houston, one of the best things is the weather. We FINALLY have beautiful fall weather! For the last week it has been cool in the mornings and evenings, and warm but not hot during the day. In fact, my a/c hasn't turned on for over a week now!

Last week we were able to enjoy some of the gorgeous weather when we got invited to Old MacDonald's farm with our friends. Tyler loves playing with Kade, and I liked the chance to get out of the house. The babies even enjoyed their first trip to the farm, but I didn't think to get any pictures of them there.

Hope your fall is (or was, depending on where you live) as nice as ours.

My sweet boys

I walked into the family room the other day, and this is what I saw.

Now, what makes it so sweet, is the close up.

Don't I have such sweet boys?

Bathtime

I'm still trying to decide if I like bath time. When Tyler was a newborn, he got his bath every other day--no exceptions. With the twins, it just sometimes feels so overwhelming. Our evenings can get crazy if dinner goes late, then trying to get Tyler ready for bed, including bath, pj's, story, family scripture time, and whatever excuses he can come up with. And then doing a baby bath, not once but twice?

But on the other hand, I know that when I put a boy in the tub, he is going to love it. Both babies enjoy the water, and I find that I absolutely love the one on one I get with each one. It's just a little chance to talk to them, care for them, and love on them. And as a bonus? You end up with yummy smelling babies.

I guess bath time is one of those times when the good outweighs the bad. I'll tell myself that the next time I think: "Oh, it's only been three days--one more won't hurt."
