First, our Christmas books. I have blogged about this before, and it is still one of our favorite things. My mom started giving us a Christmas book on Christmas Eve in 1993. We unwrap one each night and read it.
Our stack of Christmas books this year |
The other countdown we are doing is an activity advent. (I'll see how this goes doing two things each day. Hopefully we haven't overextended ourselves.) About 5 or 6 years ago I found this countdown at Marshall's.
There is supposed to be a star attached on a string that moves around counting down the days till Christmas. Well, we lost the star this year. So I got the brilliant idea of putting a slip of paper in each pocket with an activity on it. Here's what we are doing:
- Spaghetti Factory and Temple Square
- To Grandma's for a special FHE
- Watch some of the Christmas Devotional
- Make paper countdown chains
- Write letters to Santa
- Christmas craft
- Watch Polar Express and have "Polar Express Hot Chocolate"
- Shopping trip with Mom or Dad
- Watch Luke 2 with Breath of Heaven
- Look at Christmas Lights
- Make Snowflakes
- Teacher Presents
- Thanksgiving Point Lights
- Make Goodie Plates
- Watch Elf
- Play a game and listen to Christmas music
- Gingerbread houses
- Christmas coloring page
- Watch Charlie Brown Christmas
- Sledding
- Watch The Grinch
- Make reindeer food
- Make sugar cookies
- Get the house ready for Santa

We ordered a bunch of Christmas books through Josh's classroom book order, and I am thinking I may borrow your tradition of wrapping them. I love that! And I think the boys would LOVE it! Thanks for sharing!
